The Colonel Fawcett pub, in the back streets of Camden, has built up an incredible reputation since its inception (on the site of The Camden Arms est. 1845) in 2011. Description
JESSICA FOSTEKEW
For over a decade Jess has been a whirlwind of comic invention, poignant acting and hilarious linguistic goofing about. She’s as at home over-sharing the truths of motherhood or being bawdily funny as she is showing off her impressive jester’s intellect or performing one-woman mini-plays about the absurd minutiae of British life that have the laser accuracy of Alan Bennett.
Jess has also been a hugely acclaimed and in demand writer for several years, working on top shows such as Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats and The News Quiz. She has also appeared in Psychoville, from the makers of League of Gentlemen, Holly Walsh and Graham Linehan’s new show Motherland and regularly hosts BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Comedy Club.
“Wears her smarts on her sleeve, great stuff." The Guardian
"Consistently hilarious.” Fest
JONNY PELHAM
Jonny Pelham began comedy at University and while he was there he achieved runner-up in both the coveted So You Think You’re Funny competition and The Chortle Student Comedy Awards. Since graduating university he has continued to impress and was a finalist and judges choice in the BBC Radio New Comedy Awards, as well as being nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer in 2014. He's been favourably compared to the black belt ninja master of comedy Daniel Kitson, thanks to his lyrical turn of phrase and consistent mining of his own woes and inadequacies for comic effect. Unlike the Undisputed God of British Comedy Jonny's not averse to appearing on the small screen, so he's recently turned up on Russell Howard's Stand Up Central for Comedy Central followed by a support slot on Live At The BBC this year.
“Reassuring Presence and way with a story – there are echoes of Daniel Kitson in his writing." The Guardian
“Engagingly wry temperament and clear anecdotal gifts.” The Scotsman
KELLY CONVEY
Kelly Convey is a comedian who is not one to mince her words when giving audiences an insight into what modern women really think. While her outspoken and forward-thinking musings may go against the grain, she has a refreshing and relatable authenticity that regularly wins audiences over. Voted by The Metro as “1 of 9 Hilarious Women to Look Out for in 2017”, Kelly Convey is, no doubt, one to watch.
“In-your-face and reassuringly confident.” Chortle
HAL BRANSON
Hal loves the sound of his own voice and has spent his career trying to convince others to feel the same by talking a lot. A regular at comedy clubs across the North East, Hal’s mix of anecdotal stories and physical performance mark him put as one to watch.
Tour support for Sam Simmons and Dylan Moran
“An understated comedy gem.” The Huffington Post
AND YOUR GUEST HOST:
ARCHIE MADDOCKS
Archie is an exciting new comic, who is armed with a natural stage presence and a winning smile. He possesses an affable and likeable nature that immediately puts people at ease and has impressed both his peers and audiences with his charismatic, conversational style, hilarious observations and quick, acerbic wit. This lethal skills set saw him win Bath Comedy Festival New Act of The Year, come runner-up in the Amused Moose New Act of the Year and have the hive of comedy promoters desperate to get him on their stage.
He’s also a playwright who has had his work produced by some of the best theatres in the UK (including Orange Tree Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Bush Theatre and The Royal Court) and internationally too ( New Light Theatre in New York!). He currently has several theatre and television projects in development and hopes to make some exciting announcements later in 2014.
“An impressive set.” Evening Standard
“He sells his material with a charismatic and enthusiastic style that stands him in good stead.” Chortle
