Rhys James is an accomplished comedian, writer and actor. At 27 he has already made numerous TV appearances, on shows such as Mock The Week, Roast Battle, Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and many more. He has performed four solo shows at the Edinburgh fringe to complete sell-out audiences and critical acclaim, earning his 2017 show ‘Forgives’ a spot in the British Comedy Guide’s ‘Best Reviewed Shows of the Fringe’ list. His first Radio 4 series, ‘Rhys James is…’ was met with great acclaim and he has just had another radio series commissioned for 2019. He is also known for his prolific Twitter feed which has been recommended in The Telegraph, The Sun, Huffington Post, The Poke and The Gentleman’s Journal among others.

Rhys hosted a weekly show on The Football Republic for 2 years called ‘Top 10 Football F**k Ups’ which garnered a weekly audience of well over 150,000 viewers, as well as a weekly segment on BBC2's 'The Premier League Show' called 'Rhys's Pieces'. He has appeared on Sky’s Soccer AM, Football’s Funniest Moments, BBC1’s Football Focus, BT Sport’s Football Tonight, Absolute Radio’s Rock n Roll Football and TalkSport among others.

"A cut above his humdrum peers." The Independent ★★★★

“Charismatic, clever and self aware… Destined for great things.” The Guardian

“Very much a thinking stand up… On the cusp of greatness.” Evening Standard  ★★★★

“Rhys James is a sickeningly talented young stand-up. He’s a super-sharp writer with a ton of smart, intricately-written jokes and stories where you’re never more than a few seconds away from another punchline.” Time Out

ATHENA KUGBLENU

Bold, fresh and always bang on point, over the past couple of years Athena has grown into the comedian that her potential has always promised.  She is a 2017 nominee for the 99 Club Female Comedians’ Bursary and has been invited to write for the News Quiz on BBC Radio 4.  She has also appeared on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales and the BBC World Service, guested on BBC Five Live and performed at the Johannesburg international Comedy Festival.

“An intelligent set that managed to be both easily accessible and playful and still say something serious.” Beyond the Joke

“A smart, impassioned comedian…an informed social observer and invested cultural commentator.” The Scotsman

“Good material, sharp presentation…an important voice.” The Times

JORDAN GRAY

Jordan Gray is an English comedian, recording artist, radio host, actress, author and Pokémon Master.

She came to fame on BBC1’s The Voice UK in 2016 #TeamPaloma. Jordan made TV history as the show’s first ever Transgender contestant – and the first competitor ever to be asked back to the show within the same series.

In 2017, after a decade in the pop and indie music industry (touring and recording under the pseudonym Tall Dark Friend) Jordan announced her leap to stand up comedy… on April 1st.

Comedically, she draws from the likes of Russel Brand, Tim Minchin, Kate McKinnon, Ricky Gervias and Chris D’Elia.  Musically, her voice and stage persona have been likened to Marc Bolan, Kate Bush, Michael Jackson, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, Florence Welch and Tracy Chapman.  She is unlike anyone else you will have ever seen.

She features regularly on national and international radio and podcasts – highlights incl. BBC’s Radio 1 with Nick Grimshaw and a feature episode on Scroobius Pip’s chart topping ‘Distraction Pieces’ podcast (iTunes #1 download).

ISA BONACHERA

A skilled cartoonist and sketch writer, Isa recently turned her hand to stand-up comedy, with spectacular results.  After reaching the final of BBC New Comedy Award 2018 she has also become a member of Soho Theatre’s Young Company.

"A distinctively offbeat way of thinking, generating off-kilter punchlines that are hard to see coming." Chortle

DANIEL MUGGLETON

Daniel Muggleton is an Australian stand-up comedian from Sydney, which is objectively a better city than Melbourne, just trust him.

He has sold out shows at festivals around Australia: Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Canberra Comedy Festival, Darwin Fringe & Sydney Fringe - as well as at The Edinburgh Fringe. His debut album ‘Let Me Finish’ was released in 2017 by Grammy Award-Winning US label Comedy Dynamics, making him the first Australian comedian they’ve ever produced…following in the footsteps of huge American stars such as Kevin Hart, Jim Gaffigan and Bill Burr.

"Very, very funny." Sydney Arts Guide

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

Standing a statuesque five foot five inches high (not in heels) and weighing in at eleven stone (on a good day) Ben is the current light-middleweight contender for compering champion of North London.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
