GARRET MILLERICK

Over the past few years Garrett has emerged as a brilliantly enraged voice of frustrated reason, a masterful storyteller and a firm favourite at the Fringe and in comedy clubs all over the UK.  A bombastic stage presence married to a masterful turn of phrase has seen him branded Critic's Choice in The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The iPaper, The Metro and Time Out.  Last year's 'Sunflower' was an enormous hit in Edinburgh, leading to a nomination for Best Breakthrough Act at the Chortle Awards.  He followed it up this August with 'Smile'.  Don't think the name means that he has mellowed - he's still full of passion, fury and the ability to provoke enormous laughs on subjects ranging from Dragon's Den to eco-anxiety and even a bit of (common sense) soul-searching.

If you want a comic fueled by truly hilarious rage, then Garrett is the man for you.

"A big hitting stand-up." Guardian

"Watching him let rip is a unique joy." The List

"A virtuoso display of unforgivingly grumpy stand-up delivered with fire in his soul." Chortle

DAVID MILLS

David Mills is a London-based American actor, comedian and cabaret performer who won the Hackney Empire’s New Act of the Year competition in 2011.

Smart, arch, bitchy, indiscrete and completely hilarious, he is the personification of finely tailored modern comedy with the safety catch taken off.  No topic is safe from his laser-guided gags and he’s a master at seducing an audience with his silky performance with a poisoned punch at the end.  Since then he has performed at venues all over London, the UK and in the US.  He’s opened for Ed Byrne, Margaret Cho and Scott Capurro and performed his solo shows at venues such as Soho Theatre, Leicetser Square Theatre, Oval Theatre, Crazy Coqs and the St James Theatre to name just a few.

“David Mills is heading for the big time. Most definitely one to watch.” Time Out

“A class act. His jokes are beautifully crafted, sparkling little missiles loaded with wit.” The Scotsman

“His claws are as sharp as his suit.” List

Winner of the prestigious 2016 So You Think You’re Funny competition (previous winners include; Dylan Moran, Lee Mack and Peter Kay), was a regional finalist in the 2016 Funny Women Awards and most recently, took home the crown at the prestigious 2017 BBC New Comedy Awards.  Since then she has performed critically acclaimed Fringe shows, supported Joe Lycett on tour and appeared on The Now Show.

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

Freshly returned from the Edinburgh Festival, Ben is ready to take the helm at Good Ship once more and steer it through the vast ocean of comedy we have on offer.  One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
