LAURA LEXX

COMEDIAN'S CHOICE AWARD WINNER 2018/19

Laura Lexx is an award-winning comedian, actor and writer and, more importantly one the most delightful acts around.

Since smashing the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 she has appeared on all sorts of shows such as Live At The Apollo, BBC At The Edinburgh Festivals and Roast Battle. She has also been a guest on BBC Radio 4”s Evil Genius with Russell Kane’s podcast as well as the RHLSTP with Richard Herring podcast and Sarah Millican’s Standard Issue podcast.

Following critically-acclaimed runs of her shows Trying and Knee Jerk, Laura won Best Performer in the Comedian’s Choice Awards at the 2018 and 2019 Edinburgh Fringe. She was also named in the Top 10 of Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe in 2018. Trying transferred to the Soho Theatre in London in 2019.

Laura won Best MC in the 2017 Comic’s Comic Awards and was nominated as Best Compere in the 2016, 2017 & 2018 Chortle Comedy Awards, so it’s unsurprising she has also provided tour support for enormous names like Jason Manford, Tim Vine and Russell Kane.

"A bouncy, bubbly stand-up star." The Telegraph

“Real comedic steel.” Guardian

"One of the most delightful performers you're ever likely to see." GQ

"A joy... roars of laughter."  Independent

MO OMAR

Somali-born, Cardiff-raised and London-based, Mo Omar is a fast-rising talent with a unique perspective. Mo was selected to perform in The Pleasance Comedy Reserve show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was a finalist of the BBC Introducing Radio 4 Comedy Award, both in 2019. He then made his TV debut on Harry Hill’s Clubnite on Channel 4.

Previously, he was the winner of the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2017 competition, and semi-finalist in the So You Think You’re Funny and Amused Moose 2017 competitions. He created short-form videos for the new BBC Wales platform BBC Sesh, and also starred in an episode of The Joy of Missing Out for All4.

"Omar has a winningly irreverent attitude to sacred cows, with a fresh and feisty delivery that gives him a contemporary edge." Chortle

MICKY OVERMAN

Micky is one of the most promising and exciting acts to hit the circuit in years.

A bedrock of surgically sharp writing combined with a cool and confident delivery make her an exceptional comedian.  Her material moves quickly from devastating honesty, to brutal whimsy, to on-point social observations. She already has the aura of a successful comic well beyond her years.

"A keen comic mind." Chortle

RADU ISAC

Radu Isac is known as a comedian’s comedian in Romania. He started stand-up comedy 9 years ago. In this time he managed to have a day job only for 7 months. That happened when he moved to Los Angeles to experience the trials and disappointments of a real American comedy career.

He’s biggest disappointment was having to continue on the long road of pursuing an international career. So far it has taken him to Los Angeles, New York, Washington, London, Edinburgh and Sofia.

“He nicely treads the line between weird and relatable.” Chortle

MATT HOSS

Matt started Stand-up comedy when he was 19 years old in a vegetarian restaurant. He accidentally swore profusely to a small boy to close his first 5 minutes. The rest of his career is summed up with that metaphor.  Matt has been performing comedy for a long-time and it is his passion.

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
