The Colonel Fawcett pub, in the back streets of Camden, has built up an incredible reputation since its inception (on the site of The Camden Arms est. 1845) in 2011. One of Camden's few independent free houses, we're proud to offer a great array of 19 beers on draft, over 100 gins and a fantasticselection…
Description
Safe, socially-distanced and still the best value comedy show in London, we are delighted to be returning to The Colonel Fawcett with more tremendous acts from the UK and International Festival circuit.
JESSICA FOSTEKEW
EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE: BEST SHOW 2019
If comedians were strikers then Jess would be the most in-form player in the world, banging in goals from every conceivable angle. She has appeared on QI, Live at the Apollo and the Museum of Curiosity, as well as being a star of Motherland and Cuckoo, Meanwhile, over in podland hosts her own podcast Hoovering all about eating which in less than a year has racked up nearly half a million downloads. She is also a regular co-host of behemoth podcast The Guilty Feminist and is all set to host a brilliant new podcast from the same producers in 2019 called X, Y, Z Boom.
For over a decade Jess has been a whirlwind of comic invention, poignant acting and hilarious linguistic goofing about. She’s as at home over-sharing the truths of motherhood or being bawdily funny as she is showing off her impressive jester’s intellect or performing one-woman mini-plays about the absurd minutiae of British life that have the laser accuracy of Alan Bennett.
“Wears her smarts on her sleeve, great stuff." Guardian
"Consistently hilarious.” Fest
SARAH KEYWORTH
Originally from Nottingham, Sarah Keyworth is fast-becoming a regular on the London circuit. That not surprising after she had a magnificent summer at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, being nominated for Best Newcomer and winning a prestigious Herald Angel Award.
Her material is a mix of honest anecdotal storytelling about her Midlands upbringing, made surreal with the occasional addition of a silly observation. She delivers sharp lines with a cheeky smile and moments of sudden deadpan that leave the audience wanting more.
"Charming." Independent
"She has a subtle, slightly sinister stage persona, which only serves to emphasise the wildly funny material." The List
"A complete breath of fresh air." Edinburgh Festival Magazine
JIM CAMPBELL
Jim is a stand up, writer and actor. His 2 solo hours at Edinburgh played to sold out houses and critical acclaim and his debut was named one of the Top 10 EdFringe shows in the Amused Moose/2Entertain Laughter Awards. Jim has written for ESPN and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and his podcast, The Football Ramble has won 7 awards, has over 80,000 listeners and recently packed fans into venues up and down the country on their inaugural tour.
“Exquisitely written, punchline-driven material without cliché. It’s hard to imagine a subject he couldn’t come up with an original and literate joke about.” Chortle
CELYA AB
Celya Ab is the most unique emerging talent on the UK circuit. Originally from Paris, France and of French – Algerian origins. Celya is now residing in the sunny city of Birmingham and has been making a huge impression on the UK comedy scene despite only starting her comedy career in 2017. Able to perform in French & English, Celya’s sharp writing brings a unique look into life as a EU expat living in post brexit Britain. With a very likeable stage presence and natural ability Celya looks destined for the top
“I was shocked and appalled by Celya’s sharp and annoyingly observant gags. An exciting and promising writer.” Joe Lycett
AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:
BEN VAN DER VELDE
One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.
"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle
"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post
