ABANDOMAN

Winners of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, Musical Comedy Awards and the Adelaide Fringe Festival “Best Comedy – Newcomer” award, Abandoman create musical songs and sketches at lightening speed based on audience interaction. Come to the show, drop your suggestions in the ring and watch as Abandoman make musical magic. No two shows will ever be the same.

The last four years have seen Abandoman tour with multi-platinum artist Ed Sheeran, headline comedy stages at every major UK music festival (including Glastonbury, Latitude, Bestival, Leeds & Reading), host London’s St Patrick’s Day event to over 15,000 revellers in Trafalgar Square, and be named out of over 2000 acts as the Sunday Times’ “Best Musical Act” of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014.

Abandoman perform extensively in both the UK and abroad. They have sold out runs at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and this year will perform in Hong Kong, America, and numerous destinations in Europe. Their most recent show, “Hot Desk” sold out two years in a row to a capacity audience at one of the Edinburgh Festival’s largest venues, and has since toured all over the world.

“A freestyle talent that is unparalleled anywhere in the market. No two shows could ever be the same as they pick out audience members and freestyle about them, with comedic timing and witty rhyming that’s so impressive it could’ve been scripted.” Independent

“A proper party. Raucous, expansive and relentlessly hilarious.” The Times

“Clever, quick-witted and audacious”, “Broderick’s ear-to-mouth coordination is Olympic standard, sharp surefire laughs.” ★★★★ The Scotsman

JUST THESE PLEASE

Just These Please are a sketch comedy company comprising three actor/comedians and one maritime lawyer. Since their 5-star debut show in 2018, they have amassed over 80k followers and more than 40 million views online with their sketches and songs including ‘When You Order Coffee With an Irish Name’. 2019 saw them sell-out another 5-star run at the Edinburgh fringe and appear on the BBC.

“Remarkably tight and consistent." Chortle

"An hour of joy with the staggeringly talented [Just These, Please] Mildly filthy, very funny."   Lucy Porter

VIX LEYTON

Vix Leyton is a Welsh / East London dual citizen endlessly gigging on the comedy circuit.

The comedy equivalent of the Emperors' New Clothes, speaking regularly on how comedy can help you get speaking gigs for your day job when the only speaking gigs she has done are about how comedy helped her land more speaking gigs for her day job. A self fulfilling prophecy of a comedian, proving that if you say it often enough and people say it back then it can become true and she is all over the

In October she launched panel show ‘The Comedy Arcade’ on Acast, with A list comedy guests including Zoe Lyons, Mark Watson, Russell Kane, Jen Brister, Katy Brand and literally hundreds more. She also runs it as a live show, which was shortlisted for Best Podcast at Leicester Comedy Awards in February 2021 and went on a summer tour with appearances at Brighton Fringe, Cambridge Comedy Festival, Southend’s Festival in a day, Camden Fringe and Edinburgh.

TADIWA MAHLUNGE

Tadiwa Mahlunge is one of comedy's most exciting new acts, already scoring a multitude of awards including winning London and Manchester King Gong in 2018 and 2020, Semifinalist of Amused Moose New Comedian of the Year in 2019 and 2020, winning The Blackout at Up The Creek 2020 and most recently winning Beat The Frog at The Frog and Bucket in February. Not bad, after being told that he wasn't allowed to join the Comedy Society at Lancaster University because he 'did not represent the values of the society'.

Tadiwa was born in Zimbabwe before growing up in Cardiff. After spending his whole life in two colonies, it's a bummer for him to now call London home. When his plans to have a career as a professional physicist were dashed, after he was told he would never make the grades for Oxbridge, his obvious second choice was standup.

Other than standup, Tadiwa loves writing software, football, MMA and World of Warcraft. The thinking man's incel.

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
